How to become a member of KYTA (for the first time)
All teachers and students of KY can register with KYTA. To do this you need to complete two forms, available as downloads on this page.
Step 1 (FOR NEW MEMBERS ONLY): Download and complete the KYTA Membership Application Form:
KYTA Membership Application Form (for new members only)
Please complete ALL sections of this form as the information we are asking for is a requirement for membership of KYTA. Membership runs for one year from the date of joining.
If you want to apply only for KYTA membership and no insurance because you have already insurance with another company, then please complete and return the form with a copy of your current insurance policy document.
If you intend to teach, you MUST have insurance. KYTA has arranged a group policy with DSC Yoga-Link Insurance for the benefit of members. For more details of what the insurance cover provides, please download:
DSC Yoga-Link Summary of Benefits Services
Step 2: Download and complete the DSC Yoga-Link Application Form:
DSC Yoga-Link Application Form
NOTE: This application should be made in your legal name (not in your spiritual name) as it is a legal requirement.
The current (2012) Insurance premium for Standard Cover is £51.20. If you require extra cover for more than one activity you should ask DSC for a quote. Their contact number/email can be found on the form.
Step 3: When both forms are completed and you have written your cheque for membership and insurance, payable to "DSC Insurance Services," send it all to:
DSC Insurance Services, Swithins, Lodge Farm, Tilbury Road, FARNHAM, Surrey GU9 8HU.
NOTE: If you are only applying for membership and do not require Insurance or already have your own insurance you should still send the Application form and payment to DSC.
DSC Insurance have alternative methods of payment. You will need to telephone them if you wish to pay by BACS transfer or a credit/debit card. The phone number is on the forms.
Already a KYTA Member?
Every year your Membership and Insurance will need to be renewed. On the anniversary of your joining KYTA you should receive an email invitation from DSC-Insurance to renew, but if you miss this and do not renew, your insurance may lapse.
If you do miss the renewal date you can renew your membership and reinstate your insurance by contacting DSC Insurance by phone on 01252 735806. There may be a fee for reinstatement and for late renewal of membership so we suggest a note in your diary to help you keep track and remind yourself to look out for the email renewal invitation each year.
Need it VERY URGENTLY?
If you need to obtain Insurance very urgently – for example, you may be asked to cover a class for someone at short notice – then DSC Insurance are very helpful and can arrange immediate/temporary cover by telephone, on 01252 735806. Please ONLY use this in an emergency for Insurance cover.

If we come across teachings that enhance, heal, and awaken our lives, we might feel gratitude. In the eastern traditions, no student would approach a spiritual teacher without first offering a gift. "Emptyhanded you come, emptyhanded you go!" For this reason Yogi Bhajan taught us, not to share the teachings for free. There is a karmic law of exchange, and whatever the student takes, he or she has to pay for it in one way or another.
We also have been given the laws of prosperity. The tradition of Das Vandh is the sharing of the tenth part (tithing) of whatever we earn in charity, in the same way as we give the first tenth of our day when we do sadhana, and the first tenth of our body - our head - when we fall in love with the Guru.
Gurudakshina is an offering to the source of the teachings in pure gratitude. As Kundalini Yoga teachers, we are asked to share 11% of everything we earn from teaching activities with one of the organisations within the 3HO family. If you would like to serve the Kundalini Yoga Teachers in the U.K. and the teachings of Yogi Bhajan, you are welcome to donate to KYTA. Payment can be by standing order, bank transfer or cheque (KYTA prefers the first 2 options as cheque payments can take some time to reach our bank).
* Download the Standing Order Form
* Make a transfer to Kundalini Yoga Teachers Association, account number 91787225, sort code 40-08-39
* Send a cheque payable to "Kundalini Yoga Teachers Association" to KYTA, PO Box 188, 95 Wilton Road, London SW1V 1BZ with a reference as Gurudakshina.
Thanks for helping us serving the community.
